WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Taking On A World Of Words. WWW Wednesday is a quick look and current update in the life of a reader, by answering three simple questions.
The three W’s are:
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you finish reading recently?
- What do you think you will read next?
What are you currently reading?
Bartholomew Mills And The January Dawn by David Carmalt. I’m reading this as part of the Let Us Read Middle Grade Reading Challenge. It is about a boy on a pirate ship on it’s way from England to Barbuda, and the dangers of the journey both on and off the ship. I like it a lot, it has a Famous Five kind of a vibe to it which I’m enjoying.
What did you finish reading recently?
Emergency Room by Caroline B. Cooney. I found this book to be very busy. There are so many characters and so much going on, it was hard to really connect with anyone. In a way, it was probably written stylistically to mirror a busy emergency room, which I get, but personally it just felt a little too disjointed.
Growing Up For Beginners by Claire Calman. I liked this. It was slow to get going, the plot unfolds quite slowly, but the whole thing is well thought out, and by the end every loose end has been tied up. I rated this one 4/5 and you can read my full review of it here.
Cry Of The Lake by Charlie Tyler. This book made me feel tense, and kept me on the edge of my seat as I waited to discover what was going to happen next. It is a dark murder told from a few characters, slowly unveiling pieces of the plot. I highly recommend this one. You can read my full review of this book here.
What do you think you will read next?
The Wheelwright’s Daughter by Eleanor Porter. It’s an Elizabethan era story about a woman suspected of being a witch. February seems to be the month of blue book covers so far, so I’m continuing the theme.
