The idea is to compare different book covers, based on a weekly changing theme.
The theme for Friday Face-Off this week is derelict buildings, and I chose to look at The Haunting Of Hill House by Shirley Jackson.
Each of these book covers have a creepy, eerie vibe, while all being different in some way. Some opted for a colour palette of grey and black shades, while others chose to add brighter pops of colour.
These two book covers use grey, black, and blue shades to colour the images which help to give an ominous feel to the book.
My favourites though, are the ones that use more colour in the pictures.
The orange against the black of the house creates a stunning image, while the colourful plants with the white house in the background also has a nice pop. I think the orange background does a better job of portraying the scariness of the book, which makes it the slight winner for me.
Which book cover do you like best? Do you agree with my pick?
